BAOBAB GOES A STEP FURTHER...

Winter is coming and Baobab Domains, yet again, is entering a new phase. Despite it being winter here, temperatures are still ideal to continue working at the construction site. As many of you already know, the building structure has been completed a few weeks ago, and by now, technical installations and interior finishings are advancing rapidly. This week, we also started plastering the exterior walls (to be finished in white).

Of course many of you have started to ask us about the furniture. To be able to offer you the widest choice possible, we are mainly looking into how our offer is best composed. The interior design we will propose will be sustainable, low maintenance and very aesthetic. With the help of a number of specialists, we are putting together a diverse and exquisite selection!

To help you as much as possible with choosing your interior, a catalogue will be compiled, and will be sent to each and every customer early next year. Of course, all furniture and fabrics will be on display in our show flats! Between January 31st and April 30th, you submit your choice, which perfectly enables us to decorate the apartments completely to the customers’ wishes, so you do not have to organize anything yourself... 5 star living as it is meant to be.

To ensure the quality and everyone's safety at the construction site, from now on we can only allow visitors on site on Friday afternoons and by appointment. Of course we are more than happy to welcome you at our show flats!

Happenings: K42 Canarias Anaga Marathon

If you happen to be in Tenerife this December, and you are a sports minded person, then it might actually be fun to participate in the K42 Canarias Anaga Marathon. It takes place December 11th. Registrations via Internet

This marathon is part of a series of trail marathons, the K42 series, sponsored by Salomon. It will be a tough trail in the ​​La Laguna/Anaga area. A good condition and lots of previous exercise will be necessary! Because of the successful first edition, many famous names are expected to participate.

Editorial September

We hope that you all enjoyed some good weather this summer, although you most likely needed to travel abroad to do so. The weather here on Tenerife has been great with an average of 26 degrees, which has enabled the construction to advance quite a lot. In spite of the fact that Spain is often associated with fiesta, siesta and holidays, the site wasn't closed down for the summer. On the contrary, the number of workers has risen largely and the building rhythm has almost been doubled.

Recent pictures from inside the site can be found on Facebook  and on the Photo Gallery of our website! This week the building's structure, when the roof of the Villa apartments is poured, will be finished, and of course, that asks for celebration (yet another fiesta). And as tradition dictates, a Cochinillo will be prepared on site, the best you'll ever eat!

And not only at Baobab Domains, but on all seven of the Canary Islands, they've been working hard. The last few months have been more than successful because the number of tourists has actually reached 5.8 million, turning the islands in one of the most popular destinations ever. Tenerife still holds its strong position and therefore remains a very interesting investment opportunity.

With respect to the rental management, we started looking for the appropriate staff, such as the right Community Manager, one of the key roles within Baobab Domains. Interesting to read what we will be expecting from that person. That job offer and in the future, many others, can be read on our website, where we have added an extra part, Careers.

Lifestyle: Mercado de agricultor

A market visit is a very popular holiday activity. Ever heard of 'Mercados de agricultor'?

In several villages on Tenerife these markets take place during the weekend, both Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8am till 2pm. They are small local markets where farmers gather to sell their products. Not only fruits and vegetables can be bought there, but also a range of different artesanal products such as bread and pastries or the typical Canarian cheeses. All local and above all, fresh products!

Of course also Adeje has such a market, on the Las Torres square (C/Archajara), right in front of Makro and indeed very close to Baobab Domains. Definitely worth a visit!

Pioneer in fast communication!

Baobab Domains equals "5 star living", also with respect to communication! Through an efficient network of fiber optic cable, a complex set of internet, telephone and TV will be offered. Both free calls with VOIP (Voice over IP) and open telephone lines to the home front, as a permanent connection to a server will be made possible. Furthermore we will offer a quick and secure WIFI of the latest generation, very user friendly towards the tenants! Baobab Domains as a "second home" has all the amenities to provide the main TV channels from your home country. The fiber optic solution which we have chosen will be adaptable to all future developments on TV streaming so Baobab Domains will always be ahead of time without major adjustment costs.

In terms of high-speed connections, the Government of Tenerife aims for a strong progress, a great help to us! Two weeks ago, a new fiber optic cable CanaLink was landed in Granadilla (Tenerife South). That cable will ensure that within a few months, Internet access on the island speeds up to 50 or even 100MB. Moreover, the same cable will undoubtedly attract additional suppliers, which in the long run will make prices more competitive, and of course, that also benefits the Baobab Domains customers!

Tourism in Tenerife keeps getting better, so the services towards tourists are also constantly expanded. One example is the launch in June of an "Foreign Tourist Service' within the police station of Costa Adeje. The service is primarily designed for travelers who do not speak Spanish and will be available daily from 9am to 2pm. We are very pleased that foreign visitors are increasingly taken into account when it comes to provision of services on the island! Local governments understand very well that we should cherish the increased tourism and turn this positive trend into a sustainable form of quality tourism. 

Recently, moreover, new figures were released by the Cabildo de Tenerife on tourism in Tenerife, and I am proud to announce that Costa Adeje turns out to be the most popular destination on Tenerife, and even occupies the second place within the Canary Islands! This prestigious area, where also Baobab Domains is located, has increased by no less than 9.2% during the first two months of 2011 compared to last year. Within the sector, according to the Tourism Councillor of Adeje, especially the five star hotels are doing very well, they scored an increase of 12.2%. Given the fact that Baobab Domains is a 'star' within the area, this gives us great confidence that we will be able to exceed our profitability forecasts.

Happenings: Concerts & Festivals

Summer is coming! On Tenerife this will be accompanied by a great variety of activities! This month we decided not to focus on one specific event, but on the different musical happenings that will take place here during the summer months. Quite a few people will probably not expect any big names, as Tenerife is an island. But not at all, top artists love to come here, because of a happy and enthusiastic party crowd. Therefore, an overview of the various festivals and concerts.

To visualize the progress on the construction site remains an important factor. The webcam will still show the structure of the Akamai block, but it cannot show you the progress made inside the building.

So we took a walk around the site yesterday and took some photos again, which we uploaded onto our website today! And we have more good news, soon we will also upload some short videos! From now on, the idea is to walk through the site at least once a month so you will have more than only pictures to follow the construction! To be continued ....

In recent bulletins we have already talked about shopping, wellness, and also the range of possibilities with respect to sports have been discussed. According to us, however, there is still an important part to be mentioned in terms of 'Lifestyle ', i.e. gastronomy.

Team expansion!

A project such as Baobab Domains is unique and has never been seen, certainly not with respect to the installation techniques. Many techniques are to be implemented in an innovative way. All apartments have an individual solar energy system, while the solar panels are hidden in one central place within the building. This entails a complicated, yet very efficient system of hot water being guided to each apartment and swimming pool. The same attention is being given to the airconditioning: one for each property (consumption has to be separate for each owner), but installed away from the apartment, not only because of aesthetic reasons but also to reduce the possible noise to zero! Bear in mind also that each room has an individual sprinkler system that is able to detect a fire in one specific room and distinguish it in that particular room. To develop this into the finest details, we have surrounded ourselves with the right people!

We aim to be one of the most advanced buildings in Spain with respect to saving energy and safety. Hence we hired two additional specialists a couple of weeks ago. An additional investment, but one of which all owners will benefit since the community costs will be greatly reduced.

The Canarian government attaches great importance to energy saving and for more than 20 years they have been financing a company that was specifically founded to investigate cost-efective solar energy. From within that company, we hired an engineer to define all installations in terms of energy saving.

Our goal is nothing less than to ensure that our current and future customers, when spending their holidays here, they live a truly unique experience! And to be able to create that 'unique' experience, a lot of attention is being paid to the details, because details make the difference, as do the people in our team!

Even though the opening of Baobab Domains still might seem far away, rental activity is moving closer quickly. We have already begun to implement a 2-year marketing plan that is not only based on attracting specific customers who want to stay at Baobab, but also on international brand awareness.

Subjective factors often provide the key to decide on a given destination and stay. When finally three choices are left, what speaks is a feeling, a feeling that is strongly dominated by the image that one has of a company. Image therefore is a main factor in our marketing plan.
By setting up such collaborations as with Plaza del Duque and Spa Bahía del Duque, by sponsoring exclusive events (f.e. last week's 6th anniversary of Plaza del Duque), we started the branding of the concept Baobab Domains!

At the same time, we are looking into possible collaborations with people in sports (golf, tennis, cycling, mountain biking, triathlon) because we believe that Baobab Domains is an ideal base for those sports. More information on this will be given in the following Bulletins.

Branding is of course much more than simply advertising and creating brand awareness. It is the feeling that our (potential) customers experience at any given time they come into contact with Baobab Domains. So at the same time, the branding of Baobab Domains, is a promise to our customers, a promise to meet the high standards we have set for ourselves!

Happenings: Swan Lake

To remain in the same atmosphere as last month (we went to the Moscow Ballet in Magma), another happening with Tchaikovsky music. This time, Swan Lake, not the ballet version, but on ice! Indeed, the Auditorio de Tenerife will be converted into an ice rink from May 25th till May 29th.
Imperial Ice Stars consists of 25 ice skaters from several countries. Together they have collected more than 200 medals already. So you may definitely assume this will be a spectacular show. Tickets range from 19 to 45 euro and can be ordered here.

By now most of you will now that on the gallery of our website we post new pictures on a regular basis. But not each and every month we will talk about the pictures we took. Next to pictures, we also attempt to visualize Baobab Domains in a different way, so we made a small video on the project.

Sports is a lifestyle in itself, a healthy one also! Amongst our customers, there are a number of athletes, so this month we decided to list a couple of sports events taking place in Tenerife during the month of May.

Our Services

To succesfully launch a project such as Baobab Domains, you often need to think ahead, which is exactly the reason why we are currently finishing the design of the areas where our extra services will be offered. Those areas will not have an immediate effect, but nevertheless are extremely important! Hence the final decision on the design of a mini market, a lounge bar at the community pool, a nursery, a restaurant and sports facilities. We have absolutely no doubt that you will be amazed by the result! Apart from those, there is room left for two more services, on which we will be giving further information later on. Of course, for those services to be succesfull, we will need the right people! Suggestions are more than welcome!

The most important factor of Baobab Domains' success are our clients, and therefore I am taking this opportunity to thank them, for the belief they have in our project, for the good publicity they spread, for giving us new ideas, etc.

We consider it our obligation to provide you with as much information as possible on the progress of the construction. It makes sense, you want to be informed on how things are proceeding, what choices have been made ​​in materials, etc.

Also, we have taken a new and very important step in the whole Baobab concept: the preparation of services to owners and tenants. Many actions have been taken specifically to ensure the future letting. We are partnering with other companies, such as Plaza del Duque and Spa Bahía del Duque to make sure that you can use these facilities. Each month we will definitely give an update!

Completion of the first phase

Perfectly on schedule, the building's structure will be completed at the end of April! From then on, we will be able to show our buyers all the views and locations of every apartment. The ones yet to be built, have just in time received a new design and by the looks of it, will become truly special. The following months, this bold design will become visible already in the building's structure. Of course, we can't wait to find out what kind of response we will receive! From now on, further progress will take place mainly inside the building, making it difficult to follow everything on the webcam. We will definitely make sure to post the necessary photo material on our website! In the meantime, everyone is also looking forward to the traditional party that will be thrown when ending this phase, honouring the completion. On the menu, an excellent cochonillo, prepared by the workers themselves!

Amongst the buyers of Baobab Domains, there are a lot of people that have rediscovered Tenerife! Often they have visited large parts of the world, and yet, they think of Tenerife as the ultimate destination, because of the climate, the way of living and everything the island has to offer. These days, that feeling is intensified by what is going on in the Arab world.

For clients who have not visited Tenerife for quite some time, the island has evolved to a destination with amazing sceneries, peace and quiet and the endless possibilities as a second home. Especially Costa Adeje has become extremely attractive, here even the most demanding client will find his needs answered to nowadays!

Happenings: Carnaval

Carnaval, for those who have lived the event already, there is not much more to tell, for those who have never attended it, it might just be enough to tell you that the second biggest Carnaval in the world (yes, after the one in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is the one in Santa Cruz de Tenerife! It looks like this year's carnaval will again be a spectacular edition. Imagine thousands of people, colourful processions, insane costumes, fireworks, music, ... an event that will never be forgotten. You have no other choice than to attend the festivities!
