Baobab Domains vs IGIC

Since we have a number of important announcements to make, let’s get down to business right away. From November on, a large part of the apartments will be delivered by means of a notary deed and the anticipated outstanding amounts for those apartments need to be paid. Due to a recent decision of the Canary Government, the IGIC (equivalent of VAT on the Canary Islands) will be increased from 5% to 7% for the purchase of off plan properties. The new law awaits final approval by the Canary Parliament and is expected to be implemented by the beginning of July and applied at least until 2014.

On all payments made after that final approval, 7% IGIC will be levied instead of 5%. Please beware of the fact that this increase has no effect on the amounts already paid! There is a possibility to avoid this 2% increase by paying part of your outstanding amount before the end of June. So if you were to make a payment before June 30th, the 5% rate of IGIC will still be charged for the amounts paid. Should you have any further questions, please contact us on +34 922 702 129.

If you are planning to visit us, please bear in mind that by now more than 120 workers walk around the construction site and in the interest of everyone's safety, the show flats are only accessible on Friday afternoon or by appointment scheduled through our offices. And last but not least, the past few weeks we launched a new line within our brand, called Baobab Sports. Baobab Sports is the proud sponsor of Santisora ​​Triathlon Club, and right after the start of our cooperation, the half Enduroman in Lanzarote was won by Paul Santos, in a brand new outfit of course! With Baobab Sports, we want to focus on everything that has to do with sports on Tenerife, people in search of an active and at the same time luxury holiday will definitely be able to turn to us. Not only do we want to innovate in terms of architecture and design on Tenerife, we also want to offer a 'different' type of holiday! The first press contacts have been made, the outline for a new website has been drawn, the publicity campaign is taking shape, in short, a very exciting and challenging time awaits us!

Happenings: Cirque du Soleil

We are delighted to tell you that the Cirque du Soleil will be stopping over in Tenerife for the very first time to perform their amazing ‘Alegría’ show early next year. Between January 13th and 20th, you can come and watch their performance in the Pabellón Insular Martin in Santa Cruz. BAOBAB DOMAINS BEHIND THE SCENES

To be completely honest, the Baobab Bulletin each and every month, is a search for the right words (that at the same time have to be interesting and informative). So far, I've been the company's ghostwriter, I’d write something and Filip would adapt it. But today, the exciting task of writing this post has been fully passed on to me! To start off well, I decided to give you a look 'behind the scenes'.

I am truly happy to be a part of this astonishing project. Nowadays it's great just to arrive at work, pick up a helmet and walk around and be amazed how rapidly things are changing around here. Last Friday for instance, the very first private pool arrived! I could totally see myself sitting there, sipping a sweet mojito, enjoying the sun and the amazing views. Also the first bathrooms have been tiled completely, bathtubs nicely finished and the showers are to die for… I just can't wait for the bathroom furniture to arrive to complete this beautiful picture! And of course, from this week on, kitchens and furniture will be installed, so that in a couple of week's time, we will be able to publish the first pictures of our show flats!

I have always been rather enthusiastic when walking across the site but, being a woman, I must admit that this phase excites me much more than the last one (before it was just a bit of concrete to me), Filip, however, became as happy as a little child even when the insulation materials arrived or when they started the technical installations... oh well, I'd rather go crazy about everything that's going on now. Especially now we're preparing the furniture catalogue, which should be arriving at your doorstep by the end of March! I can't wait to find out how excited you all will be when you get to see the furniture we carefully selected.

We still have an awful lot of work to do and we’re planning ahead when it comes to the future management of Baobab Domains: we're defining the total infrastructure, the first people of the new team have started their jobs already, we're finalising the reception and the extra services we want to offer. Soon we will also start contacting you with respect to price setting etc. And of course, publicity is also an important factor, on Facebook we're about to cross the magical number of 1000 fans, we'll be appearing in a couple of magazines and believe it or not, we already have a list of potential Baobab Domains guests. Actually, what I am even more grateful for, is the fact that we have true Baobab Domains ambassadors, i.e. you, our clients, who have always shared our enthusiasm and have been spreading the news on our project!! What more can we possibly wish for?

This month’s Bulletin was sent out a bit too late, and we have already received a couple of emails asking if email addresses were still correct, whether or not the Bulletin was still sent, etc. I would like to thank you for that, because such questions are quite flattering, and who doesn't like to receive a compliment every now and then?

I guess the only thing left to say for now, is that I want to wish all of you a phenomenal 2012, may it become a year in which all your dreams come true!

Lifestyle: Cinema

If you stay here regularly, you probably have a different lifestyle than the average tourist that spends a holiday on this island. You won’t be practicing the same activities every day and you will probably prefer to enjoy the peace and tranquility of your own apartment, instead of visiting the busier areas of Tenerife. In that case, it might be a nice idea to spend the evening at the movies! But if your Spanish is not (yet) sufficient enough to follow a movie in this language, it is also possible to watch a movie in English at Cine GranSur and Zentral Center.

BAOBAB GOES A STEP FURTHER...

Winter is coming and Baobab Domains, yet again, is entering a new phase. Despite it being winter here, temperatures are still ideal to continue working at the construction site. As many of you already know, the building structure has been completed a few weeks ago, and by now, technical installations and interior finishings are advancing rapidly. This week, we also started plastering the exterior walls (to be finished in white).

Of course many of you have started to ask us about the furniture. To be able to offer you the widest choice possible, we are mainly looking into how our offer is best composed. The interior design we will propose will be sustainable, low maintenance and very aesthetic. With the help of a number of specialists, we are putting together a diverse and exquisite selection!

To help you as much as possible with choosing your interior, a catalogue will be compiled, and will be sent to each and every customer early next year. Of course, all furniture and fabrics will be on display in our show flats! Between January 31st and April 30th, you submit your choice, which perfectly enables us to decorate the apartments completely to the customers’ wishes, so you do not have to organize anything yourself... 5 star living as it is meant to be.

To ensure the quality and everyone's safety at the construction site, from now on we can only allow visitors on site on Friday afternoons and by appointment. Of course we are more than happy to welcome you at our show flats!
